Paranormal investigations in the world's most haunted country
COMING SOON TO THE SCOTLAND CHANNEL
Scotland is reputed to be the most haunted country in the world.
So, it’s perhaps fitting that The Scotland Channel will premiere a made-for-television pilot show featuring actor, Michael McKell, ghost hunter, Kevin Donalson and emerging medium, Candace Defour Roberts as they visit the Scottish Borders town of Melrose in search of paranormal activity at the town’s George & Abbotsford Hotel.
The show, produced by Edinburgh-based Twa Witches Media, will be released exclusively on The Scotland Channel on Thursday, October 29th in time for Halloween night.
“The show takes a common sense approach to the unexplained,” says Executive Producer, Suzie Jack whose own Edinurgh home is haunted by a ghost of a playful young boy who loves to turn on the TV in her kitchen late at night even when it’s not plugged in just to see her reaction.
“Echoes of Scotland takes a pragmatic approach to search for entities,” she adds. “No need for infra red shaky cameras and jump-scares in the middle of the night.
“Scotland, considered one of the most haunted places on earth, provides both ghostly opportunity and stunning backdrops to investigate the paranormal.”
The show is produced by Glasgow-based Martin Heron Productions which has more than 13 years experience in producing film, television and video content. Martin has worked as producer, director and editor across a range of projects including feature documentaries, music videos and broadcast programming for BBC, STV, CNN and America’s PBS network.
Says Suzie Jack “Just as with roller-coasters, we as humans love to be scared as a form of entertainment, granted that we know that we can stop whenever we want.
“The relative notion of safety while volunteering to give ourselves a good fright by watching a ghost show is an effective way of boosting our endorphins without the hassle of putting ourselves in a life or death situation.
“In Echoes of Scotland, we make no assumptions that entities are immediately malevolent or cruel; our presenters don’t immediately antagonise spirits in order to rush interaction with them, dare them or order them to perform on a whim. We want the audiences to get to know the spirits, to feel comforted by the notion of potential life after death rather than go into battle as some popular ghost hunting shows tend to frame their hunts, she added.
Echoes of Scotland has the playground of Scotland’s wilds to take full advantage of, a dream destination with thrills, paranormal or otherwise.”

Kevin Donalson, who has been fascinated with the paranormal since as far back as he can remember and has had more ghostly encounters than he can count; multi-media artist and interior decorator/ designer
Candace Defour Roberts who is able to sense when someone close to her has died no matter where in the world they are and actor,
Michael McKell
who has appeared in TV shows such as
Blessed’, ‘M.I.T.’, ‘A Touch Of Frost’ , ‘Miss Marple’, ‘Cradle to Grave’, ‘Kavanagh QC’, ‘Vera’, ‘Eastenders’ and ‘Emmerdale.’
Michael made his movie debut in ‘Essex Boys’ in 2000 with Sean Bean, Larry Lamb, Alex Kingston and Tom Wilkinson and he has written, produced and acted in more than 39 films including ‘Allied’ with Brad Pitt, ‘Where Hands Touch’ Directed by Amma Asante, ‘Jekyll and Hyde,’ the National Film Awards Best Film winner ‘Lucas and Albert, ‘Hatton Garden The Heist’, ‘The Guard of Auschwitz’, ‘13 Graves,’ the multi-award winning ‘Winter Ridge’ with Alan Ford and ‘Prizefighter’ starring Russell Crowe and Ray Winstone.
